Access matches the caretaker’s task
The caretaker can view active meters, the latest values, and their histories, then add a new reading. They cannot rename meters, rotate links, close the workspace, or delete data. The narrow capability avoids sending the private management page through routine messages.
Printed labels identify both place and device
Each label shows the workspace title, meter name, type, unit, and QR code. The owner prints one sample, scans it in the dim utility room, and confirms it opens the correct local URL before attaching the full set. A copied link remains available beside each QR online.
Names and actual timestamps preserve context
After a visit, the caretaker records what each display showed at the time of inspection and uses a short note only when access was unusual. The owner sees who recorded the value and when, without asking the caretaker to install an app or create an account.
A replacement starts a new sequence cleanly
When the water meter is replaced, the owner records the reason and the observed initial value instead of overwriting the old device. Later differences use only the new installation sequence. Official provider documents remain the source for billing and replacement certification.
